Journey Reflection
commune with spirit . . . intercommune with good creation . . . give thanks for being

Thank you for sending the four copies, three for good friends. I have just read through your book in a hurry and enjoyed it so much. I will read again more slowly. My favorites this read: Oct. 19 and 26, Nov.3, Jan 2, 26 and 31, March 3, April 8, May 3 and 13, Aug 4 and 15. ~Mildred McGuire, industrial engineer, Tennessee

Your blog reflection is my first ritual of the morning, literally. It is a discipline for me, if you will, a daily office.  Thank you for your depth contribution to so many. ~Jane Zammit, ‘Heritage Rose’ specialist, NSW, Australia

John Cock’s daily reflections rocket you to the furthest reaches of the universe and into the deepest reaches of the heart. Start the day with a jolt of creative energy and insight. His daily reflections are available on the new Center for Ecozoic Studies (CES) web site. ~Herman Greene, lawyer and President of CES, North Carolina

My spirit is refreshed and my worldview “tilts” toward hope and possibility after I read the reflection for the day. I especially appreciate the arresting photography and artwork,* and the profound reflection that precedes the benediction, Namaste. ~Marilyn Crocker, educational consultant, Maine

Your daily reflections are truly food for my soul. What a refreshing and hopeful way to connect with a wider and deeper perception of our world, our religions, our selves, and our potentials. ~Gerri Davis, teacher and music therapist, Virginia

There is a heaven for reflection known as “Journey Reflection,” a place of calming waters and a deep breath of restorative energy. The New Monk Project (NMP) gladly shares the reflections on our web site daily. ~Tim Watson, architect and Board President of NMP, North Carolina

As I read the daily reflections, time and again one “jerks my coat” to nudge me forward on the path toward full realization of who I am called to be.
~Karen Bueno, teacher, Colorado

The wonderfully diverse reflections keep me aware of the many wells of consciousness that tap into the one, vast underground sea of Spirit that is the source of all true and realistic living. I grow larger and richer with each daily installment. ~Harold Slater, minister, Michigan

Reading the Daily Spirit Journal forces me to focus on that which is not me, which is outside of me. Yet when I really focus, I experience an internal connection with the spirit world, and I am grateful. ~Diann McCabe, professor, Texas

I read the daily reflections via RSS. It is my daily grounding exercise. It is the renewal of the screen through which I view reality. Without it I would not be able to keep a center to my being. ~Ed Reames, innkeeper, Costa Rica

The circulation of the daily reflections is a Mission of Love that sustains. Now is a time for new life patterns. These readings address that need in a most profound and helpful way. ~John Patterson, global volunteer, Ontario, Canada

What a great influence to start out each day with a meditative reading and picture* as a way to articulate the happening and the existence of spirit in our lives. Whether I feel that my own life is mundane or mountain-top, I have the daily opportunity to share in the experience of my fellow humans, fellow creatures, and mama earth herself. Your journal entries connect me and extend me, and I’m very grateful once again for all your work in putting them together.
~Nancy Trask, librarian, Iowa

As I check my email, the first thing I look for is the day’s Journey Reflection. What a wonderful happening. Almost inevitably it exudes that Life is Good. It is inclusive. Nothing is left out. You see that life calls for balance of the opposites . . . the goods and bads, ups and downs, formlessness and form. You see that life is effervescent . . . always bubbling over with Spirit, calling us to say “Yes!” to the new moment. It offers a transformational journey into wholeness, like an alchemical gate opening a flood into our awareness of the abundance of love and gratitude, of joy and delight that are always present. And yet, there is always more. . . ! ~Joseph Slicker, mentor, Texas

Preface

Since August 19, 2004, I have been sharing spirit reflections through a daily online blog and
e-mail list, and compiling those into four volumes, with this publication.
1,622* blog postings (archived at “Journey Reflection” www.reJourney.blogspot.com)
bring us to Volume IV of Daily Spirit Journal. Thousands of people from every country have participated in over 72,000 reflection views online, and several hundred per-sons via a daily
e-mail list and online feed.
The intent of the daily “Journey Reflection,” as the online blog banner states, is to “com-mune with spirit, intercommune with creation, and give thanks for being.” Further, the aim is

·to provide a big context
·to reveal the depth of life
·to articualte the meaning of living and dying
·to occasion eye-opening experience
·to motivate responsbile action

I have been experimenting with daily meditation a long time. Now, daily, my ear is cocked, my eye is on watch, and my interpretive juices are aflow. I see myself as a journey reporter always looking for a meaningful story – with profound art or photo – to share widely.
My job is to dialouge with a local-global network of journers, making my daily solitary exercise a communal one – even if virtual. I get to do my personal reflection with others, many whose spirits I sense as I reflect.
What a great job to have. Namaste.
